This is a tough post to write.
Since Easter 2009, I have worked at the Lusty Lady, dancing, mopping, making change, choosing music, making schedules, managing, and serving on the Board of Directors.
As of this week, I have resigned, and will no longer be employed at the world’s only unionized & cooperative peepshow.
Our business’s income will soon dip below a level even remotely sustainable, and unless it is sold, it will shut its doors. There are quite a few intelligent and reasonable people who, like me, voted to sell our business (to the only formal bid we had received), but we were out-voted and out-shouted at every turn. And so, we quit, and although we wish the Lusty Lady well, and hope against hope that they can survive, our sanity cannot take it anymore.
I will be dancing one last shift tomorrow, on stage 4:30-6:30 and in Private Pleasures 7-8:45. Come see, before I vanish in a puff of glitter and lube.
This doesn’t mean, however, that Jolene Parton will disappear. On the contrary, I will have more time to devote to photos, art, porno, burlesque, and numerous other adventures, that I’ll make sure to document, here and elsewhere.
